The legendary label has just launched its AW21 collection, launching a new eco-friendly GreenStride ™ style for women
If last year’s big comeback to the great outdoors caused by COVID has taught us anything, it’s that a pair of pool slides or better-day sneakers aren’t a suitable shoe when it comes to to get lost in one or the other. pastoral or urban wilderness. However, with lessons firmly learned – and toes dried – in the Year of Our Lord 2021, we are fully equipped to make much better choices when it comes to our shoes.
Cut to Timberland®, who has a wealth of knowledge and expertise in this sort of thing (see: understatement). With the nights falling and the air getting colder, the brand has just released its AW21 GreenStride ™ Footwear Collection – which this season features all-season boots covering Solar Ridge lightness, original Ray City style inspired by yellow boots, and more.
The new GreenStride ™ Edge waterproof boot will also make its debut for the coming winter. Designed with a multitude of terrains in mind, the innovative and technologically advanced styling is completely waterproof, so things like “rain, water-filled potholes and leaky fire hydrants” should be included. child’s play, depending on the brand.
Taking the iconic yellow boot as a starting point, the stylish Edge boot uses eco-friendly materials as part of Timberland®’s offering to reduce its impact on the environment and become net positive by 2030. The The style’s upper is sewn using “Better Leather,” sourced from a sustainable tannery, while the trims and accents are sourced from ReBOTL ™, a unique material made from at least 50% recycled plastic. The lining of the shoe is also good news, given that it is also made with 50% recycled material.
The sole of the Edge boots, on the other hand, takes direct inspiration from nature, with an exaggerated sole molded with geometric shapes, also made from 75% renewable materials like natural cane and rubber. “As the cane grows, a naturally recurring stem pattern does the same,” reveals the brand. By taking these repeating shapes as the base of the shoe, the result is an optimized experience for the wearer – namely, ultimate comfort and flexibility when walking the streets.
“We’re excited to launch our GreenStride ™ eco-innovation in boots, which have been the heart and soul of the Timberland® brand for decades,” said Chris McGrath, Global Vice President of Footwear Design for Timberland® . “Our designers have worked tirelessly on these progressive new styles that are designed to work outdoors, from town to trail and back again. They’re lightweight, waterproof, and ready for anything.
