Liverpool sign former Spurs Women striker Rianna Dean
A few weeks ago, Tottenham Hotspur Women essentially emptied their squad, releasing 11 players from the 2020-21 squad which finished 8th in the WSL last season. Forward Rianna Dean was one of those players. But it looks like Dean has landed on her feet, as she signed with Liverpool Women for the 2021-22 season.

Dean was an integral part of the Tottenham squad which was promoted to the WSL in the 2018-19 season and was the Spurs Women’s top scorer for their two years in the FAWC. However, she has found life much more difficult in the top flight, scoring only a handful of goals in the past two seasons and finding her playing time drastically reduced. She has only scored four WSL goals, none last season, and has found herself behind players such as Kit Graham, Rachel Williams and Alex Morgan.
Liverpool have been the subject of a lot of scrutiny lately for the way they have treated their women’s team, but it’s actually a good landing point for Dean. She has already proven that she can be a volume scorer at the Championship level and I have no doubt that she will put her shooting boots back on for Liverpool. She is a player that I have enjoyed watching over the past few years and I wish her the best.
